Facials in Chennai – Find the Right Doctor-Led Facial for Your Skin

A facial should match your skin, not a festival offer. At VK Allure Dermaclinic, a doctor looks at your skin first and then picks the facial that suits it – a Hydrafacial for congested skin, a Korean glass skin facial for dryness, a carbon laser facial for oil and open pores, or a PRP facial for dull, tired skin. This page compares every facial we offer in Kilpauk, ECR Uthandi and Ambattur, so you can see which one fits you and when to book it before Diwali or a family function.

What is a doctor-led facial?

A doctor-led facial is a skin treatment chosen after a dermatologist checks your skin type and concern. Instead of one standard routine, it may use a device-based cleanse like Hydrafacial, a medical peel, a carbon laser or your own platelet-rich plasma. The aim is a real change in acne, oil, tan or dullness, not just a short-lived glow.

Tell the doctor if you are pregnant, using isotretinoin or retinoid creams, prone to cold sores, or have a skin infection or eczema flare. These change which facial is safe for you.

Which facials does VK Allure offer in Chennai?

We offer six main facials: Hydrafacial, Korean glass skin facial, carbon laser facial, vampire (PRP) facial, medical chemical peels and the black peel. Each targets a different concern, from congestion and dryness to oil, tan and dull, tired skin. Your doctor may combine two of them over a few weeks for a better result.

Which facial is best for my skin type?

Oily, acne-prone skin usually does best with a carbon laser facial, black peel or salicylic peel. Dry or sensitive skin suits a Korean glass skin facial or Hydrafacial. Tan and uneven tone respond to peels, and dull, tired skin with fine lines may benefit from a PRP facial. A doctor's skin check confirms the right match.

How many days before Diwali or a wedding should I get a facial?

Book a gentle facial like a Hydrafacial or glass skin facial about five to seven days before Diwali or a function. Peels and carbon laser facials are better two to four weeks before, so any dryness settles. PRP facials and laser toning need a month or more. Avoid trying anything new in the last two or three days.

With Diwali on 8 November, a simple plan works well: if you want to clear tan or oil, have a light peel or carbon laser facial in the last week of October, then a hydrating facial around 1 to 3 November. If you only want a quick glow, one Hydrafacial in the week before Diwali is enough. Planning a wedding instead? Our bridal skin care plan sets out a month-by-month schedule.

  1. 4 or more weeks beforePRP facial, laser toning for pigmentation, or a course of peels if you have marked tan or melasma.
  2. 2 to 3 weeks beforeA light chemical peel, black peel or carbon laser facial to clear oil, tan and dull skin.
  3. 5 to 7 days beforeA Hydrafacial or Korean glass skin facial for hydration and glow.
  4. Last 2 to 3 daysNo new products, no facial waxing or threading, and no squeezing pimples. Keep to cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen.

Is Hydrafacial better than a normal facial?

For most skin concerns, yes. A Hydrafacial uses a device to cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate with even suction and serums, so it is gentler on acne-prone skin and gives a more consistent result. A normal facial depends on manual massage, steam and squeezing. A basic facial is relaxing, but it treats less.

Research on hydradermabrasion is still limited. A small 2024 imaging study in Skin Research and Technology showed changes in the outer skin layer after treatment, but it had only eight volunteers. That is why we describe Hydrafacial as a good maintenance and glow treatment, not a cure for pigmentation or scars. For a closer look at the two most-asked options, read Hydrafacial vs chemical peel.

What happens during a facial at VK Allure?

Every facial starts with a short skin check by the doctor. Then your skin is cleansed, the chosen treatment is done – usually in 30 to 60 minutes – and you leave with sunscreen and simple aftercare advice. There is no hard selling: if a facial will not help your concern, the doctor will tell you.

  1. Skin checkThe doctor looks at your skin type, acne, pigmentation, pores and sensitivity, and asks about creams and medicines you use.
  2. Choosing the facialYou agree on one facial, or a short plan of two or three sessions, based on your goal and timeline.
  3. TreatmentCleansing, then the main step – device cleanse, peel, carbon laser or PRP – followed by soothing serums.
  4. AftercareSunscreen is applied and you get written aftercare advice. Peels and PRP facials have a follow-up check if needed.

How often should I get a facial?

Every four to six weeks suits most people, because that is roughly how long the skin takes to renew its outer layer. A course of peels is often spaced two to six weeks apart, and PRP facials about four weeks apart. More frequent facials do not give faster results and can irritate the skin.

Between facials, a simple home routine does most of the work. The American Academy of Dermatology advises gentle cleansing, not scrubbing, and giving a new acne product six to eight weeks to work – which is also why we avoid changing too many things at once before an event.

Who should avoid or postpone a facial?

Good candidates

  • Dull, congested or dehydrated skin
  • Mild acne, blackheads and open pores
  • Tan and uneven tone
  • Anyone wanting a safe pre-event glow

Postpone or choose a gentler option

  • Active cold sores or skin infection
  • Sunburn or a recent eczema flare
  • Isotretinoin in the last few months (for peels, lasers, microneedling)
  • Pregnancy – many peels and lasers are avoided

Aftercare tips

  • Sunscreen every morning, reapplied outdoors
  • No scrubs or picking at flaking skin
  • Pause retinoids and acids for a few days if advised
  • Light makeup only after 24 to 48 hours for peels

What are the risks of clinic facials?

Most clinic facials are low-risk. Possible side effects include temporary redness, dryness, flaking, breakouts and, with peels or lasers on brown skin, temporary darkening. These are less likely when a doctor chooses the strength, patch tests where needed and spaces sessions. Results vary, and no facial gives a permanent change on its own.

The AAD's chemical peel FAQs note that people with darker skin can develop pigment changes after peels, which is why the depth of the peel matters. In Chennai's heat and sun, we keep peels light before festivals and ask you to protect your skin afterwards. Exact cost depends on your skin assessment – book a free consultation.

Why choose a clinic facial instead of a salon facial?

A clinic facial is planned by a doctor who can diagnose what is behind your dullness, acne or pigmentation and treat it. Salon facials are good for relaxation, but they cannot use medical peels, lasers or PRP, or spot conditions like melasma, fungal acne or rosacea that need different care.

All three VK Allure branches follow the same protocols: Kilpauk for central Chennai, ECR Uthandi for south Chennai and OMR, and Ambattur for west Chennai. Still deciding? Read our guide to the best facial treatment for glowing skin.

Facials in Chennai – FAQs

For most people a Hydrafacial or Korean glass skin facial gives the quickest glow with no downtime, so either can be done about a week before Diwali. If you have tan or pigmentation, a light peel or carbon laser facial helps more, but these should be done two to three weeks ahead so any dryness settles.

Plan a gentle facial such as a Hydrafacial about five to seven days before the event. Chemical peels and carbon laser facials are best done two to four weeks before, and PRP facials or stronger treatments a month or more before. Never try a new facial in the last two or three days.

A Hydrafacial uses a device to cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate in one sitting, with consistent suction and serums. A normal salon facial relies on manual massage and steam. Hydrafacial is gentler on acne-prone skin and gives more even results, but a good basic facial still has a place for relaxation.

Most people do well with a facial every four to six weeks, which matches the skin's natural renewal cycle. Peels are usually spaced two to six weeks apart for a course, and PRP facials about four weeks apart. Your doctor will suggest a rhythm based on your skin and goals.

Yes, but choose carefully. Heavy massage, steam and squeezing can make inflamed acne worse. A doctor may suggest a Hydrafacial, a salicylic acid peel or a carbon laser facial, along with prescription treatment. Painful cystic acne needs medical treatment first.

Yes, when the products and settings are chosen for Indian skin. Strong peels or lasers done wrongly can leave dark patches, so the doctor checks your skin type, may patch test, and starts gently. Daily sunscreen after any facial is essential in Chennai's sun.

A salon facial focuses on cleansing, massage and relaxation. A medical facial is planned after a doctor checks your skin, can include peels, lasers or PRP, and treats a specific concern such as acne, pigmentation, open pores or dullness.

Hydrafacial and Korean glass skin facials have no real downtime – you may look a little pink for an hour. Light peels can cause dryness or flaking for a few days, and a PRP facial with microneedling can leave redness for one to two days.

After a Hydrafacial or glass skin facial, light makeup is usually fine the next day. After a peel, carbon laser or PRP facial, wait 24 to 48 hours, or as your doctor advises, so the skin can settle.

Gentle hydrating facials are usually fine, but many peels, lasers and some active ingredients are avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Always tell the doctor if you are pregnant or trying to conceive.
